The Baltimore Ravens were the first team to make a big splash following the lockout, cutting a number of key veterans.
The team announced it released running back Willis McGahee, defensive tackle Kelly Gregg, tight end Todd Heap and wide receiver Derrick Mason.
McGahee was expected to be cut because he is a backup and was going to be making too much, but the other three were surprising.
Heap and Mason were clearly the most surprising cuts, but there is a chance that both could return later in free agency at a reduced price. ( Read More…)

With the lockout now over, the Baltimore Ravens are busy preparing for what is going to be a free agent frenzy.
The Ravens will have a very short period of time to re-sign their own free agents, after which everyone is fair game.
Baltimore is particularly interested in re-signing guard Marshal Yanda, as well as one of Chris Carr and Josh Wilson.
The team would also like to retain fullback Le’Ron McClain and backup quarterback Marc Bulger, but it won’t be easy. ( Read More…)

Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed declared himself healthy for the 2011 season and is hopeful to have a smooth training camp.
Reed said that he hopes head coach John Harbaugh take it easy on him in training camp so that he can remain healthy.
The safety has two years remaining on his current contract but mentioned the possibility of playing longer.
He said he would love to retire with the Ravens and that he would be willing to sign a contract extension to make that happen. ( Read More…)
